The Prodigal Son: The Return

In the lower part of the painting, we see the red rag which is symbolic of his nature put aside for a time which leads him into a great depression and introversion as a young man when finally he takes off. The return is inevitable as the father ‘s love draws him back into a passionate embrace of grace and acceptance of the whole man.
